Jared Reklaitis came to us at 19 years old, measuring in at 6'3", 230 pounds and just coming off of a high school career that saw him as the ace and 3-year varsity starter.  After giving up five home runs his freshman fall in college and struggling to pitch, effectively, he knew that he needed to make some adjustments to his routine.  He was throwing 83 mph at the Division-I level, which he soon found out wouldn't be enough to play as much or be as successful as he wanted. With his levers, you had to wonder... why wasn't he throwing harder?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Although he had a pretty successful freshman campaign (2 starts, 26 innings, 2.03 ERA with a Low-80s fastball), he knew that he wanted to play more and be better.  That's when he reached out to Tread Athletics.  Fast-forward six months, and you'll see how his hard work paid off below.

After performing his initial movement assessment and collecting various strength markers, our team established a plan we felt would make Jared successful moving forward including, but not limited to, improving total body power numbers, body composition, and various mobility deficiencies. (See results below.)

Month 1 Progress:

After 6-months on his personalized routine, Jared made significant improvements (see above) to all of his main lifts (squat, deadlift, and dumbbell bench press) as well as his under-load (3 ounce) and baseball velocity records.  He accomplished all of this while completing a body re-composition that saw him lose 15 pounds.  (Images below.)

Weight Tracking:  Objectively measuring bodyweight fluctuations each day is important to have sustained progress, regardless if you are trying to gain or lose weight.  (Each dot represents a day.)

Improved Body Composition:  Jared dropped from 230 to 215 pounds, while adding lean body mass. 

​Mechanics are a tough thing to coach; however, after implementing over-load weighted ball training and various throwing drills, Jared was able to completely re-map his arm action and improve his timing as a whole.  (See before and after below.)

Mechanical Re-Mapping:  Pre-training, Jared's arm had trouble getting up, and lagged big time.  (Arm action patterning drills using overweight balls helped slot his arm back into the plane of shoulder rotation.)

Jared came to us as a good pitcher needing to improve his velocity to take his game to the next level.  Our team worked with Jared to devise a metric-driven approach to give him the best chance to see the improvements he wanted.  Velocity isn't a guarantee; Jared knew this; however, he was willing to believe in the process, and his results speak for themselves.  We appreciate being a part of Jared's journey and are excited to see what the future holds for him and all of our other athletes.
