The qualities we care about

We built a company on our terms that embodies the qualities and values that we look for.

  • We’ve never used investors – 100% of our business is funded by our customers, which allows us to think long term, invest heavily back into our team, and steer the ship based on our vision rather than the bottom line.
  • We believe in impact. Our goal isn’t to run a small operation, but to impact thousands of athletes and be leaders in innovation within the baseball development world, all the way up to the MLB level.
  • We believe in relationships. Our athletes know that we’ll go to bat for them no matter what and that we are invested in their growth. Our brand is based on this kind of trust and one-on-one relationships.
  • We believe in being the best. As a team of current and former athletes, we’re competitive, and we aren’t willing to compromise on the quality of what we do.

We also look for certain qualities in our team members:

Solve hard problems. We're constantly tackling and solving complex issues. Being able to think critically and apply your knowledge to unique situations is paramount. If you like being challenged, you'll belong here.

Move quickly and adapt. This is a startup, not an established, 20-year-old business. We move quick and are forced to adapt faster. Our pace isn't for everyone, but the right people find it invigorating.

Be a little crazy. You've gotta be a little different to push the boundaries. Our athletes are a little weird and our coaches are just as quirky. Work hard and be yourself - you're in good company.

Think you've got what it takes?

We're currently looking for the following positions:

ABOUT TREAD

At Tread Athletics, we’re a team of competitive problem-solvers, leaders, and former athletes driven by a core mission of helping baseball players reach their athletic potential.

Each year, there are hundreds of thousands of high school baseball players and tens of thousands of college and pro players fighting to make the most of their careers, often without the knowledge, guidance, or resources that would allow them to keep up in the increasingly competitive landscape of amateur and pro baseball.

We’re fixing that by providing the information, resources, and guidance to help them squeeze everything out of their careers.

A couple of stats:

  • Since 2015, we’ve served over 7,000 unique athletes, from high school players chasing scholarships to MLB All-Stars looking to maximize career earnings
  • 300+ Draft Picks & MLB Free Agent Signs
  • 30+ MLB debuts and too many college scholarships to track

We believe in telling athletes the truth, doing the hard work, and building relationships that last well beyond a single season. If that’s the kind of organization you want to represent, you’ll feel at home here.

PERFORMANCE DEPARTMENT VISION

We are building a team as competitive about their craft as the athletes they serve. We want people who hold themselves to a high standard, seek growth, and are motivated by genuine impact, not just a paycheck.

Top performers here will have a clear path to expanded scope, opportunities as they emerge, and materially higher earnings as we scale.

We promote based on results, not tenure.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Performance Coaches occupy a unique space in the player development world, training thousands of baseball players remotely year-round, from high schoolers to perennial MLB All-Stars, while also working with hundreds of athletes on-site at our state-of-the-art, 33,000 sq. ft. Headquarters in Charlotte, NC.

This is not a seasonal gig with 12-hour days on the training floor and 11 PM close times. Our hybrid model gives you the continuity players need to actually develop, and the breathing room coaches need to dig into real problems and create sustained results.

As you build toward a full athlete workload, you’ll own all foundational pillars of your players’ development: throwing biomechanics, programming, pitch design and analytics, strength and conditioning, nutrition, and the mental game.

WHO THIS IS FOR

  • You played at a high level and left the game hungry, not burned out. You miss competing, and coaching is how you channel that.
  • You’re not looking for a 9-to-5. You want a craft to master, athletes to actually impact, and a team that pushes you to be better.
  • You’ve coached long enough to know what you don’t know, and that excites you instead of scaring you.
  • You think in systems. When an athlete isn’t improving, your first instinct is to diagnose the problem, not defend your process.
  • You want to be in a room with the best coaches in the country, people who will make you significantly better, faster than you would anywhere else.
  • You want access to technology and data most coaches never touch, and the mentorship to actually know what to do with it.
  • You want to work with elite athletes. Not just talk about it.
  • You want to grow fast. Coaches here develop more in 12 months than most do in 5 years, because the feedback loops, resources, and talent around you are unlike anything else in the industry.

WHAT WE OFFER YOU

Coaching infrastructure you won’t find elsewhere. Full access to a Biomechanics Team with markerless motion capture, Trackman (5+ units), HitTrax, Edgertronic, force plates, and high-end analytics software, plus a dedicated Data & Analytics Team to support your work.

A real development path. Regular in-services and continuing education keep your skillset growing. Top performers have a clear track to expanded responsibilities and six-figure total compensation. We promote from within.

A team worth being part of. 40+ passionate Performance Coaches. A collaborative, results-oriented culture. People who hold each other accountable because they actually care about outcomes.

Stability with upside. Year-round employment. Minimal travel. Traditional work hours allow for the stability not seen in other high-turnover baseball career paths. A livable base salary as you learn, with a higher total comp path well above that for proven performers.

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU

Responsibilities

  • Manage, coach, and produce measurable results with your assigned athlete workload
  • Participate in scheduled floor hours with in-house athletes
  • Build genuine relationships with your athletes, ones that lead to retention and referrals
  • Collaborate with our Content team, as needed, to produce high-quality educational materials
  • Show up for company events and contribute to in-services, in-house research, and special projects as needed

Results

  • Maintain athlete retention rates that reflect the quality of your coaching relationships. KPIs to be discussed during the interview process.
  • Consistent technical improvement across your assigned roster
  • Feedback and content contributions that reflect deep baseball and performance knowledge

Requirements

  • 1–3+ years of experience coaching pitchers with a demonstrable track record of results
  • High-level proficiency in throwing biomechanics
  • Working knowledge of strength & conditioning, anatomy, pitch design, corrective exercise, and performance nutrition
  • Collegiate playing experience or higher, with evidence of personal development
  • 80-grade written and verbal communication skills. You can explain complex concepts clearly to a 16-year-old and a big leaguer in the same day

COMPENSATION

  • $54-$72k base salary + performance-based bonus structure
  • Full compensation structure will be discussed on interview
  • Final starting salary will be based on several factors, including relevant prior experience, skills, and expertise
  • The value of our benefits package is not included in this base and is in addition to the final figure
  • Join a fast-paced, results-oriented culture
  • Own the outcomes & develop your skills with a core group of driven, motivated pitchers

BENEFITS

Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance plus 401(k) with employer matching.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

Athlete First

Every decision we make starts with what is actually best for the athlete. We don’t take shortcuts that compromise that. Long-term trust matters more than short-term outcomes.

Problem-Solvers

We don’t wait for perfect information. We assess, adapt, and find a way forward for athletes and for ourselves. That applies to how we coach, how we build, and how we operate.

Relentless

We don’t quit on athletes, and we don’t quit on ourselves. That standard applies on the phone, in the gym, and everywhere in between.

About Tread

Tread Athletics is one of the most respected remote pitching development programs in professional and amateur baseball. Since 2015, we have helped thousands of athletes, from high school players chasing scholarships to established Big Leaguers, build healthier, more durable, and more competitive careers.

We believe in telling athletes the truth, doing the hard work, and building relationships that last well beyond a single season. If that’s the kind of organization you want to represent, you’ll feel at home here.

As Director of Product Operations, you’ll own the entire lifecycle of Tread’s merchandise and training product line – from sourcing vendors and managing production to running our Shopify storefront and coordinating fulfillment. You are the operational engine behind everything our athletes wear and train with.

This is not a role where you inherit a polished machine and manage it. This is a role where you build the machine.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are building a product operation from the ground up. The apparel line, the training accessories, the Shopify storefront, the fulfillment infrastructure – none of it has a dedicated owner yet. This role exists because we are ready to build it properly, and we need someone who has done this before and can run it without hand-holding.

The right person here is an operator. You’ll work alongside our apparel designer who handles aesthetics and tech packs, and report directly to leadership. Your job is to collaborate with the creative side, then get it made, stocked, sold, and shipped – on time and on margin. You’ll own this function end-to-end and grow with it as the line scales.

If you are looking for a perfectly defined lane in a large organization, this is not that. If you are looking for ownership, upside, and the chance to build something from the ground up inside a company that is genuinely poised for growth, this is worth a conversation.

WHO THIS IS FOR

  • You have built or owned a physical product operation and know what good looks like at every stage from purchase order to customer delivery
  • You are fluent in Shopify – not just the front end, but the operational backend: apps, inventory sync, launch flows, fulfillment logic, and analytics
  • You have managed vendors and manufacturers directly – negotiated terms, pushed back on timelines, and held factories accountable to spec
  • You are data-oriented and margin-aware. You know what AOV, COGS, and blended margin mean and can model a break-even scenario without prompting
  • You thrive in a lean environment where you are building the systems, not inheriting them
  • You want ownership, not just a job title – and you are motivated by watching something you built actually work

WHAT WE OFFER YOU

  • Full ownership of the product operations function with a direct line to leadership – no bureaucracy, no layers
  • A creative foundation already in place. Our apparel designer handles aesthetics, tech packs, and initial vendor relationships. You build the operational engine around that
  • Compensation commensurate with experience plus performance bonuses tied to launch execution and margin outcomes
  • A product line with real room to grow – apparel today, training accessories and more over time
  • Access to a 33,000 square foot training facility and a culture built by and for competitive athletes
  • A clear path to expanded scope and leadership responsibility as the brand and product line scales
  • Relocation bonus available for the right out-of-market candidate

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU

Responsibilities

  • Own the full lifecycle of Tread’s merchandise and product lines – from vendor sourcing and production coordination to storefront management and fulfillment
  • Manage relationships with apparel manufacturers, accessory suppliers, and our 3PL partner
  • Run and optimize our Shopify storefront: product pages, launch flows, upsell logic, inventory sync, and backend reporting
  • Coordinate with our apparel designer to move products from tech pack to approved sample to production run on schedule
  • Manage split inventory across our 3PL warehouse and Tread HQ for in-house athlete giveaways and events
  • Build and maintain inventory forecasting and reorder logic to keep core SKUs in stock
  • Oversee product photoshoots and manage image assets for the storefront
  • Track and report on key metrics: units in market, revenue, blended margin, giveaway spend, and fulfillment performance
  • Build launch timelines and hold all parties – vendors, designers, 3PL – accountable to deadlines

Results

  • Product launches hit their scheduled dates with inventory in place and the storefront ready
  • Core SKUs are never out of stock due to forecasting failures
  • Blended margin targets are maintained as giveaway volume scales
  • Shopify backend is clean, accurate, and generating reliable reporting for leadership
  • Vendor relationships are managed proactively – no surprises on lead times, quality, or cost

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of hands-on experience managing physical product operations – sourcing, production, inventory, and fulfillment – in a role where you were directly accountable for outcomes
  • Deep Shopify proficiency – this is non-negotiable
  • Direct vendor and manufacturer management experience, including negotiating terms and managing sample feedback loops
  • Strong financial literacy around product margins, COGS, and unit economics
  • Comfortable managing both apparel and non-apparel physical goods – accessories, training tools, equipment
  • Experience working with a 3PL and managing fulfillment operations
  • Background in sports apparel, athletic performance, or lifestyle brands is a strong plus

COMPENSATION

  • $90-$120k base salary commensurate with experience + bonus.
  • Performance bonuses are structured around clear year 1 milestones tied to launch execution, margin outcomes, and operational targets.
  • Final salary will be based on several factors, including relevant prior experience, skills, and expertise. Full structure discussed on interview.
  • The value of our benefits package is not included in this base, and is in addition to the final figure.

BENEFITS

Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance and 401(k) with employer matching.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

Athlete First

Every product we make, every system we build, every decision we make starts with what’s actually best for the athlete. We don’t cut corners on quality and we don’t ship something we wouldn’t be proud to put in an athlete’s hands.

Problem-Solvers

We don’t wait for perfect information. We assess, adapt, and find a way forward for athletes and for ourselves. That applies to how we coach, how we build, and how we operate.

Relentless

We hold ourselves to a standard that most people don’t. We are not the right fit for everyone, and that’s intentional. If you are motivated by being excellent at something that matters, you will thrive here.

As Sales Director, you will own and build the revenue engine that gets us there. You are coming into a company that has grown entirely through organic channels, with no paid advertising, and a sales team that already closes at an exceptional rate. The infrastructure to scale is being built. You will be a primary architect of that build.

This is not a role where you inherit a polished machine and manage it. This is a role where you help build the machine.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Tread has reached a stage where the demand is real, the product works, and the team can close. What has been missing is the infrastructure to scale: a formalized sales process, a scalable CRM, a structured outbound function, and a dedicated leader who can coach, build, and hold a team accountable to a number.

We have never run paid advertising. Every athlete we have enrolled has come through organic content, word of mouth, and referrals. That we have built this foundation also means there is significant untapped upside in building systematic outbound and formalizing the inbound process. The person who builds this will have a material impact on the trajectory of the company.

If you are looking for a defined lane in a large organization, this is not that. If you are looking for ownership, upside, and the chance to build something from the ground up inside a company that is genuinely poised for growth, this is worth a conversation.

WHO THIS IS FOR

  • You have led a small to medium sales team for at least two years and have the results to show for it
  • You have built or rebuilt a sales process before, not just executed inside someone else’s
  • You are as comfortable in a spreadsheet or CRM as you are on a coaching call
  • You thrive in environments that are not fully built yet and see ambiguity as an opportunity
  • You want ownership over a function, not just a title
  • You are motivated by the mission, not just the comp, though the comp is strong

WHAT WE OFFER YOU

  • A team of hungry closers with strong close rates and real room to scale
  • Full ownership of the sales function with a direct line to leadership
  • A company with no legacy bureaucracy, no entrenched politics, and no ceiling on what this role can grow into
  • $100K-$125K base plus team-performance commission structure with substantially higher earning potential (full structure discussed on interview).
  • A genuine path to expanded scope as the company scales, to include inbound, outbound and CS functions
  • Relocation bonus available for the right out-of-market candidate

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day performance of the inbound sales team, including athlete pipeline, call reviews, and individual coaching
  • Build and implement a structured outbound function from the ground up, including athlete outreach, sequencing, and rep training
  • Partner with sales operations to ensure CRM hygiene, accurate reporting, and clean data across the sales lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain sales playbooks, scripts, and onboarding materials for new reps
  • Establish and track KPIs for the team, report to leadership on performance, and flag issues early
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop sales talent in line with the company’s growth targets
  • Lead or support the evaluation and implementation of sales infrastructure and CRM systems to support the team’s growth
  • Stay close to the sales floor by joining calls regularly for coaching purposes and stepping in on high-value or complex enrollments as needed
  • Contribute to the alignment between sales and customer success to reduce churn and improve handoff quality
  • Be present, be visible, and set the standard for the culture of the team

Results

  • Hit or exceed monthly and quarterly enrollment targets
  • Improve team close rate and consistency across reps
  • Launch a functioning outbound function within the first 90 days
  • Establish CRM adoption and data hygiene standards across the sales team
  • Ensure every athlete who reaches out gets a response and a real conversation; no one falls through the cracks

Requirements

  • 2 or more years of direct sales team leadership experience, ideally in a high-ticket, consultative, or service-based environment
  • Proven track record of building or rebuilding sales systems, not just managing within them
  • Hands-on experience with CRM platforms and sales infrastructure tools
  • Data-driven decision maker. Comfortable building and reading dashboards, interpreting sales metrics, and using numbers to diagnose problems and present findings to leadership
  • Strong coaching instincts. You can listen to a call and tell a rep exactly what to fix
  • Comfortable owning outbound strategy and execution, not just overseeing it
  • Experience in sports, fitness, coaching, or an athletic performance adjacent industry is a strong plus
  • Baseball background or genuine familiarity with the athlete market is a major plus, but not a requirement

COMPENSATION

  • $100-125k base salary plus bonus & override
  • This position has substantial upside potential for a strong performer. Full compensation structure will be discussed on interview
  • Final salary will be based on several factors, including relevant prior experience, skills, and expertise
  • The value of our benefits package is not included in this base and is in addition to the final figure
  • Join a fast-paced, results-oriented culture
  • Own and scale a critical function within an internationally recognized brand

BENEFITS

Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance and 401(k) with employer matching. Relocation bonus available.

ABOUT TREAD

Tread Athletics is one of the most respected pitching development programs in professional and amateur baseball.

As a Pitching Content Specialist, you’ll help us keep pushing the education of this industry forward, collaborating with our coaching staff and Content Team to produce technical YouTube videos, short-form content, and educational resources that provides genuine and useful insights for the hundreds of thousands of pitchers, parents, and coaches who look to Tread for guidance.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is not a “show up and hit record” role.

This is a collaborative role where you extract and mold content ideas from some of the best minds in pitching into easily consumable content for the pitching world – creating the kind of content that would have made a difference in your own playing career.

The content we produce spans a variety of verticals – from athlete features to podcasts to documenting training highlights at our facility.

This role will be specifically focused on collaborating with our coaching team to bring top-tier educational content to life, with less focus on the formats listed above.

This content will be technical, specific, and built for an audience that knows the difference between good pitching information and bad pitching information.

To do this job well, you need to understand the game, not just the camera.

You know what gyro degree means, you can name some of the top sweepers in the game, and you would know how to extract a technical video idea from a coach on biomechanics or sports nutrition and package it to be clickable, digestible, engaging, and relevant for our target audience.

You’ll be in rooms with some of the sharpest pitching coaches in the country. Your job is to help translate what they know into genuinely useful and digestible longform and shortform content that helps push forward our mission of providing the information and resources to help pitchers reach their athletic potential.

That means leading with fresh ideas, not just execution. You won’t be on camera, but your fingerprints will be on everything we put out.

If you are looking for a role where someone hands you a script and you press record, this is not that.

If you are looking for ownership, creative latitude, and the chance to shape content inside the most respected pitching development brand in the country, this is worth a conversation.

WHO THIS IS FOR

  • You played baseball at the college level or higher, and you still follow the space because you’re genuinely interested in it, not because it’s your job
  • You understand pitch design, basic biomechanics, and why a coach might care about induced vertical break. You don’t need to be an expert, but you need the baseline
  • You have at least 2-3 years of content or video production experience – you’ve edited long-form video and know your way around Final Cut Pro or Premiere.
  • You lead with ideation. You’re thinking about the hook, the title, and the thumbnail before the camera ever rolls
  • You’re comfortable with basic motion graphics and understand what makes content perform across YouTube and short-form platforms
  • You have a broader marketing eye – you can think about Instagram strategy, website optimization, and promo content without being prompted
  • You’re a go-getter. You come with ideas, not just availability
  • Familiarity with Rapsodo, Trackman, or Edgertronic is a real plus
  • You are a perfectionist and understand how to take a piece of content from start to finish without hand-holding
  • You have high attention to detail – you obsess over putting out great work and don’t rely on others to consistently catch mistakes or put the final polish on your content

WHAT WE OFFER YOU

  • Full creative collaboration with Tread’s coaching staff. Direct access to some of the most knowledgeable pitching minds in the country
  • A content operation with real room to grow – with an audience of over one million across platforms and still building
  • Autonomy to bring ideas to the table and see them through
  • A 33,000 square foot training facility and a culture built by and for competitive athletes
  • Relocation bonus available for the right out-of-market candidate
  • A clear path to expanded scope and responsibility as the brand scales

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU

Responsibilities

  • Drive the ideation process alongside coaches/subject matter experts: researching topics, building concepts, writing hooks, developing titles, and thumbnails before the camera rolls
  • Edit long-form educational YouTube content and cut it into high-performing short-form clips
  • Manage posting, scheduling, and community across platforms, as needed
  • Analyze content performance and use it to improve what we do next
  • Contribute to broader marketing efforts: promo videos, Instagram strategy, website content, lead magnets/course creation as necessary
  • Stay current on trends in baseball player development and content strategy

Results

  • Content goes out consistently, on time, and at a standard the audience notices
  • Ideation is proactive – coaches and staff are never waiting on concepts
  • Short-form clips perform and grow the audience on every platform
  • Content performance data is tracked and actually used to make decisions
  • The channel continues to be the top educational resource in pitching development
  • Shortform content consistently performs, measured primarily by saves
  • Longform content consistently drives interest in Tread’s services and resources – measured by attributable clicks, leads & signs

Requirements

  • Baseball playing experience at the college level or above with a strong player development background preferred
  • 2+ years of content or video production experience
  • Proficient in Final Cut Pro or Premiere Pro
  • Comfortable with basic motion graphics
  • Strong understanding of YouTube and short-form content best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with social media scheduling platforms and analytics a plus

COMPENSATION

$62–75k base salary commensurate with experience + bonus eligibility ($68-$80k+ OTE).

Relocation bonus available for the right out-of-market candidate. Final salary will be based on relevant prior experience, skills, and fit. Full structure discussed on interview.

The value of our benefits package is not included in this figure and is in addition to the final offer.

BENEFITS

Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance and 401(k) with employer matching.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

Athlete First

Our goal is to provide information & resources that actually helps pitchers – creating indispensable content that changes careers, regardless of whether our followers choose to train with us. We don’t publish something we wouldn’t be proud to put in a pitcher’s hands.

Problem-Solvers

We don’t wait for perfect information. We assess, adapt, and find a way forward – for athletes and for ourselves. That applies to how we coach, how we build, and how we create.

Relentless

We hold ourselves to a standard that most people don’t. We are not the right fit for everyone, and that’s intentional. If you are motivated by growth and being excellent at something that matters, you will thrive here.

What’s the difference between an Advanced Performance Coach And A Performance Coach?

For the foremost and uber-qualified candidates, our Advanced Performance Coach position gives you the opportunity to join Tread and capitalize on exceptional, high-level opportunities right away.
We are seeking highly talented, experienced, and motivated candidates to join our team. While many core responsibilities remain the same between the Advanced Performance Coach and entry-level Performance Coach positions, the expectations for Advanced Performance Coaches are much higher. Thus, our standards during the application process and beyond will reflect this.

Key Responsibilities

    • Manage, coach, and produce results with your core group of assigned Remote Athletes
    • Coach your long and short-term in-person athletes, expediting their performance improvement

What We’re Looking For

We know that there’s a person behind the résumé and are far more interested in getting to know them than simply reading off a list of prior accomplishments.

While there’s no list of skills and character traits to check off to get hired, people with these skills, traits, and experiences tend to be great Advanced Performance Coaches:

    • 3+ years of experience training pitchers, with a track record of on-field performance gains
    • An ability to develop the throwing skill with a wide range of athletes
    • Experience playing at the collegiate level or higher, with documented personal development

In case it isn’t obvious by now, we do things differently at Tread.

We’re a company by athletes, for athletes. We’re built by coaches who have firsthand experience of the same struggles and issues that our athletes are going through and can help them navigate towards their dreams using cutting-edge, evidence-based methods.

We believe that building one-on-one relationships is vital to athlete buy-in. We believe in telling the truth – even when it’s tough to hear. We value long-term trust over short-term sales, and we don’t accept clients or sponsors just because they’re willing to write a check. We believe in incentivizing and rewarding our best team members, rather than watching them leave to the first offer they get from a pro team. We’re selective about who we let into our circle, and we demand a high degree of accountability across the board.

We’re a team of talented, obsessive, curious, and quirky individuals who feed off of each other’s personalities to drive forward innovations in content, training, and products for the baseball community.
