The qualities we care about

We built a company on our terms that embodies the qualities and values that we look for.

  • We've never used investors – 100% of our business is funded by our customers, which allows us to think long term, invest heavily back into our team, and steer the ship based on our vision rather than the bottom line.
  • We believe in impact. Our goal isn't to run a small operation, but to impact thousands of athletes and be leaders in innovation within the baseball development world, all the way up to the MLB level.
  • We believe in relationships. Our athletes know that we'll go to bat for them no matter what and that we are invested in their growth. Our brand is based on this kind of trust and one-on-one relationships.
  • We believe in being the best. As a team of current and former athletes, we're competitive, and we aren't willing to compromise on the quality of what we do.

We also look for certain qualities in our team members:

Solve hard problems. We're constantly tackling and solving complex issues. Being able to think critically and apply your knowledge to unique situations is paramount. If you like being challenged, you'll belong here.

Move quickly and adapt. This is a startup, not an established, 20-year-old business. We move quick and are forced to adapt faster. Our pace isn't for everyone, but the right people find it invigorating.

Be a little crazy. You've gotta be a little different to push the boundaries. Our athletes are a little weird and our coaches are just as quirky. Work hard and be yourself - you're in good company.

Think you've got what it takes?

*There are Performance Incentives that we will review during the interview process, which significantly increase Earning Potential beyond Year 1. The Earning Potential of a Performance Coach at Tread Athletics exceeds $100k annually in Year 3 & beyond.

About the role

The private baseball development industry is broken.

Pitching lessons, 3-day Clinics & 6-week Velo Programs don't create lasting results.

At Tread, we measure Athletes in years, not sessions.

Our Performance Coaches occupy a unique space in the player development world, training thousands of baseball players from High Schoolers to Perennial MLB Allstars remotely, in addition to hundreds on-site in our state-of-the-art, 33,000 square foot Headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.

As a Performance Coach, you will operate within our hybrid model – where you will be able to provide guidance for your assigned athletes year-round, as opposed to in brief spurts throughout the Off-Season.

Your coaching duties will involve both remote and in-house work with your assigned athlete workload. No more 12+ hour days on the training floor or field and 11:00 PM closing times.

This year-round, hybrid format provides the continuity that players require to navigate the minefield that is High School, College and Professional baseball and the freedoms coaches require to dig deeper on problems to create sustained, transcendent results.

Most player development coaches are limited to focusing on one niche: such as Strength & Conditioning or Mechanical Analysis or Sports Psychology.

At Tread, we understand that Performance is multi-faceted and complex. As you build-up to a full athlete workload, you'll be uniquely positioned to leverage your skillset as you oversee ALL the foundational Pillars of your players' development: Biomechanics, Throwing Programming, Pitch Data & Analytics, Pitch Design, Strength & Conditioning, Nutrition, Psychological and more.

Tread is a unique opportunity for you to continually level-up your coaching skillset far beyond where it is today.

Most coaches don't join Tread with a pre-existing expertise in all of these Performance Pillars.

Not to worry – once hired, you'll be immersed into all things Tread including TreadU, our 90-day Onboarding Curriculum that prepares you on everything from Muscle Physiology to Pitch Data & Analytics and Pitch Design to Communication to Time Management.

Regular In-Services and ContinuingEd opportunities allow you to evolve your skillset rapidly along with additional access to dozens of on-site resources including:

  • A Data & Analytics Team
  • Markerless Motion Capture System & Biomechanics Team
  • Force Plates & Pitch Tracking Tech, including Trackman (5+), HitTrax, Edgertronic, and more
  • High-end Analytics Software (TruMedia & more)
  • State-of-the-art Training Equipment (Keiser, VBT and more)
  • A growing team of 30+ passionate Performance Coaches

You’ll be expected to contribute at a level unfamiliar to most. It will be uncomfortable and challenging. But, when you realize your true coaching potential, you unlock opportunities for significant professional and personal growth.

Tread provides the freedom to fail (forward) with appropriate guardrails and support the entire way.

Come join our game-changing team! 💯

  • You possess 80-grade professionalism. You set the tone for how to present yourself and interact with staff, parents and athletes alike.
  • You’re a problem-solver. You seek to first understand problems, then try to solve them independently before filtering them up the chain for feedback.
  • You’re athlete-first. You believe in Tread’s greater purpose of helping athletes reach their dreams – and to help them avoid the same mistakes that plagued the generation before them.
  • You’re relentless. You're 10/10 ambitious and your mind is always processing how to optimize and push your team to a new level.

We’re a company by athletes, for athletes. We’re built by coaches who have firsthand experience of the same struggles and issues that our athletes are going through and can help them navigate towards their dreams using cutting-edge, evidence-based methods.

We believe that building one-on-one relationships is vital to athlete buy-in. We believe in telling the truth – even when it’s tough to hear. We value long-term trust over short-term sales, and we don’t accept clients or sponsors just because they’re willing to write a check. We believe in incentivizing and rewarding our best team members, rather than watching them leave to the first offer they get from a pro team. We’re selective about who we let into our circle, and we demand a high degree of accountability across the board.

About the role

We’re a fast-growing baseball development company looking for a creative, baseball-loving Content Specialist to elevate our marketing game.

In this role, you'll work with the Content Team to create engaging, platform-relevant content and share it across our social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok).

Every day, you’ll get exposure to our athletes – both remotely and in-person – and will use your camera & video editing skills to capture the energy of the gym, tell athlete stories, educate our audience, and continue our push to make Tread Athletics a household name.

This is the perfect fit for someone early in their career with experience working a camera, using video editing software (iMovie, Final Cut, Premiere Pro, etc.), and building audiences on social media.

You’ll be trained and trusted to manage a wide range of responsibilities, including:

  • Content production (filming, editing, production, and upload)
  • Filming primary YouTube videos
  • Social media strategy & analytics
  • Filming in-house content
  • Producing Feature Films (here's an example)
  • Taking and editing professional photos
  • Assisting in other projects & tasks as assigned

You’ll be asked to do some of the best work of your life and your dynamic personality and energetic, do-what-it-takes spirit will set you apart.

With that in mind, let’s talk a little bit more about what will make you a star…

What We're Looking For

  • 80-grade communication skills. At the most foundational level, your job is to communicate with a broad range of people. For the best communicators, this shines through in everything they do: content creation, social media posts, internal writing, and daily communication with our athletes and staff.
  • A baseball background. We are looking for a content specialist who played baseball at the high school level or higher, has pitching biomechanics knowledge, and has kept up with developments in the baseball training space. This is critical to be able to assist with producing, brainstorming and editing niche baseball content. Just playing sports growing up does not qualify you for what we're looking to fill with this position.
  • Experience in content production. Whether you’ve spent time tinkering with the video editing software on your phone or produced a full-length movie, familiarity with modern content production tools (Final Cut, Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator) will give you a leg up.
  • Social media literacy. We leverage YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and email to connect with our audience. Your feel for each platform and how to shape a message to match the medium will help you make an immediate impact.
  • A learning mindset. We’re big believers in “learning at altitude”. In this role, you’ll learn as you go and will make mistakes along the way. You’ll be pushed to produce great work and will need to recognize mistakes as opportunities for improvement, not confirmation that you’re a failure. If you can do that, you’re right for our culture.
  • Strong organizational skills. As you grow in your role, you’ll have multiple projects running alongside each other on different timelines. Your ability to prioritize & get things done in time will make you a star. If your to-do lists have to-do lists, you’ll be a great fit. If your Email app has 32,000 unread messages dating back to 2016, that’s probably a sign this isn’t for you.

If you can do those things well, it sounds like you might've found the role you've been looking for.

Finally, a little about us…

  • Strong organization skills. You are able to thrive and create order amongst chaos. You're a strong multi-tasker.
  • Resourceful. When you don't know the answer to something you leverage the internet, manuals, and trial and error to find optimal solutions.
  • Technological literacy. We use a suite of software tools to manage our business. You won’t need to know it all on day one, but your general technological literacy will help you pick up on what you need to know as soon as possible.

While a sales background is an advantage, no sales experience is necessary to be considered for this role.

We're looking for someone with the right personality and raw tools to thrive in this sales role long term.
